Department of visceral and digestive surgery Douera Hospital &#8211; Algeria<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Internal hernias are relatively rare, accounting for less than 1% of all abdominal hernias, with paraduodenal hernia being the most common subtype. Left paraduodenal hernia is a particularly rare condition that may constitute a surgical emergency. Its diagnosis is challenging due to its nonspecific clinical presentation and the wide variety of possible symptoms, necessitating careful and close monitoring. Intestinal obstruction is an uncommon presenting complaint. Computed tomography remains the gold standard for definitive diagnosis. Surgical repair, whether via an open or laparoscopic approach, is currently the preferred therapeutic option.
